Paying the rent
You pay the rent in advance. This means that the SSH must have received your payment on the first day of every month. You will find information below on how you can pay the rent.
To pay the rent by direct debit
Direct debit means that SSH will collect the rent automatically from your bank account each month. The rent is debited on the first working day of the month. Make sure that you have enough money in your account on that day. It is also possible for someone else to pay your rent, your parents for instance. If you do not agree with a sum debited, you can easily arrange with the bank to have it paid back into your account.
- Direct debit for SEPA countries (Single Euro Payments Area)
If you have registered with an IBAN from the SEPA zone, SSH will automatically debit the monthly rent from this bank account. If you accept your rental contract, you automatically agree with this direct debit. If you want to change the method of payment, please go to My SSH.
- Direct debit for all other countries
When you sign your rent contract, you can authorize the SSH to collect the rent from your account each month. You can do this if you have a Dutch bank account. This is the easiest way of paying the rent. You do not need to think about it again and in this way you always pay on time, even if you are on holiday, for example. Other methods of payment
If you do not wish to pay by direct debit, you can also pay the rent in a different way:
- at My SSH. You can do the payment directly by iDeal if you have a Visa or Mastercard or a Dutch bank account;
- by AcceptEmail. Each month, you will receive an email from the SSH with which you can pay your rent in a safe payment environment;
- by giving the bank a payment order yourself to your own bank. Please clearly state your reference number, full name and SSH address with your payment.

Unfortunately it is not possible to pay in cash.
Paying the down payment
If you are an international guest and you submit a reservation for a 'reserved accommodation', you are requested to make a down payment within 24 hours of booking the accommodation. The down payment is non-refundable and consists of the reservation fee and a rent payment. The amount of the reservation fee and the amount of rent you need to pay can be found in the Terms & Conditions. Check the Terms & Conditions on the page of your educational institution. Please note that the down payment can only be paid with a credit card.
