How do I terminate my rent?

You can terminate your rent via My SSH. Your period of notice is a minimum of one month. You can terminate the rent contract on any day of the week, so you are not tied to the beginning or end of the month. If you do not have a Mijn SSH account, you can also complete send us an e-mail. Always mention your name, the address where you're living now and where you are going to move to and when the end date of your rental agreement is (always at least a month after you send this e-mail). You will receive a confirmation of your rent termination from the SSH. Do you live in a Short Stay? In that case it is not always possible to terminate your rental agreement. This will depend on the agreements that your educational institution has made with the SSH. How do I hand over my residence?

If you are moving house, you must leave your living accommodation in good condition. Make sure that the accommodation is empty and clean, and repair any damages. When you terminate your rent, you will receive a message from the SSH, explaining exactly how you should leave your living accommodation.

What should I do with my keys if I am moving house?

The way you hand in your keys depends on where you live. Some occupants can hand over the keys directly to the new occupants. Other occupants must hand over the keys to the SSH. When you have terminated the rent, we will inform you regarding how you should hand in your keys.

What is a campus contract?

A campus contract is a rent agreement for living accommodation intended for students. This contract stipulates that you can only live in this particular living accommodation if you are a student.

To what addresses does the campus contract apply?

The campus contract applies in Utrecht, Rotterdam, Zwolle and Amersfoort. All the rooms from the SSH in these cities are rented out with a campus contract. The campus contract also applies in the student complexes for the independent residences.

How does the SSH check whether I am a student if I plan to live in a residence where the campus contract applies?

We will ask you to upload your proof of being awarded a student grant, onto your personal page. In this way, you will prove that you meet the requirements of the proof of income and prove at the same time that you are a student.

This will depend on which city you live in. In Utrecht, the SSH checks on an annual basis whether the occupants are still students. The reason for this is because there is a considerable shortage of student rooms in Utrecht.
In Rotterdam, Zwolle and Amersfoort, the SSH does not actively check whether the current occupants are still students. The reason for this is because at the moment there is not a considerable shortage of student rooms in these cities. However, if a shortage should occur at any time, the SSH will also carry out annual checks in these cities.
