Sint Joseph

106 rooms and apartments
City centre
11 m² -39 m²

This beautiful former convent is located in the medieval centre of Amersfoort, on the Weverssingel and Muurhuizen. This large convent building was used from 1850 by the nuns of Saint Joseph, who founded a poor house in 1841 in the Utrechtsestraat. The building was also referred to as the Roman Catholic Poor house ‘Saint Joseph foundation’. In 1976, the nuns left the convent, after which it was converted into student rooms and residences. Now, 106 students live here. In short, Sint Joseph is a unique place with a rich history. HU University of Applied Sciences Amersfoort and the Centraal Station railway station are within walking distance.

Student units
The units differ in size from two to eight rooms. Depending on the number of occupants, you share one or more toilets and showers with your housemates. In the large communal kitchen of approximately 15 m², you can enjoy cooking, dining or playing a game together. Along with all of the Sint Joseph occupants, you have access to the lush courtyard with a pond, where it is lovely to spend time.

Rooms
The 98 student rooms have a surface area of between 11 and 26 m². The characteristic high windows give your room a stunning appearance and offer plenty of daylight. There is nothing more pleasant than studying at the wide window sill. Due to the height of the ceiling, it is possible to build in a sturdy loft bed.

Self-contained apartments
The eight independent units are between 16 and 39 m². You have your own kitchen, toilet and shower. Some units have direct access to the garden.
