Transport

Car lease especially for students
SSH cooperates with StudentCar. StudentCar is based on the principle of car sharing: you share a car with other students. You always have access to a car, without having to pay regular costs. StudentCar pays for the insurance, taxes and maintenance. You only have to pay € 2,50 an hour to use a StudentCar.

StudentCar is perfect if you need a car to carry a lot of groceries, go shopping or visit your friends. If you want to go to the beach or if you need to play a football or hockey match outside town.

At the moment there are StudentCars at De Uithof and MAX. If you’d like to have more information, please visit the StudentCar website

Public Transport
Train
You can virtually get anywhere in the Netherlands by train and bus. The national railways (NS) have a complete English website where you can plan your trip and find everything about tickets, discount passes and prices. Train tickets can be purchased at railway stations. Information about these tickets can be found at National Railways website.

Local bus information (Utrecht)
Within the city of Utrecht, public transport consists of buses and one tramway to the towns of Nieuwegein and IJsselstein. Nearly all lines can be taken from the central railway station. The website of the communal transport company GVU offers detail information on all lines in Dutch.

  • Departure times from each bus stop
  • Map of Utrecht with all lines
  • Information on all courses

Public transport tickets
For all other public transport there is the "OV-chipcard". Check the OV chipcard website for up to date information on where and how to use it. Or check this PDF Traveling with the OV-chipkaart.
