HOUSE RULES

Rules of conduct
We provide accommodation for people from all over the world with many different backgrounds and customs. Please keep this in mind during your stay. Keep the radio/music volume down and avoid disturbing other people in any way.

Cleaning and hygiene
You are responsible for cleaning your own accommodation during your stay.

Shared accommodation
If you live in accommodation that is shared, the kitchen, bathroom and toiletsare for communal use and several people will be making use of the available facilities. Take this into consideration and leave things clean and tidy after use. To avoid any inconveniences to others please do not take any equipment from the kitchen to your room.

We expect you to make a cleaning schedule, and urgently advise you to comply with this schedule. SSH Short Stay has the right to hire a cleaning company if the housing officer finds that the schedule is not being fulfilled. The costs of extra cleaning will be billed to your address. All guests will be held responsible for paying that bill.

Visits by SSH Short Stay
The housing officer visits the building and your apartment regularly, checking cleanliness, hygiene and the general use of all rooms, including private ones. We will always try to announce visits beforehand. However, SSH and its authorized representatives reserve the right to enter residents’ rooms at all times
if necessary, to check if the tenant complies with the SSH Short Stay housing agreement and/or to do maintenance work.

Drain clogging
To prevent the drains from clogging, please do not flush tea leaves, hair, cooking fat or left-overs through either the kitchen sink or the wash basin in your room. If the (kitchen)sink is blocked, please log in and do a service request via your personal page.
Make sure to remove the hairs from the drain after you shower in order to prevent them from entering the drainage system and clogging it.

Safety
Fire regulations
Keep passages clear
According to the Dutch fire regulations the hallway and passages must be kept clear at all times. Therefore bicycles or any other objects that obstruct entrances or exits (inside or outside the building) will be removed instantly without prior notice. Bikes have to be parked in the appropriate bike shed or bike rack. If they are not, they may be removed without prior notice and without compensation.

Never BBQ indoors or on a balcony.

Burglary
Make sure to lock the door of your room on leaving it. Many burglaries occur because tenants leave the (front)door unlocked or leave a window open. Do not leave your laptop or other valuables in sight.

Smoking is strictly prohibited in all areas of the building and your apartment. You will be fined if you do.

Pets
You are not allowed to keep pets.

If you want a visiting friend to stay over, ask your housing officer for permission and make sure to inform your housemates. Visitors are permitted to stay for a maximum period of 3 nights. The only exception to this rule concerns the shared rooms at the Kruisstraat, where visitors are not permitted to stay overnight at all.

Of course you are allowed to invite friends over for dinner or a party. Keep in mind not to disturb your neighbors and housemates and clean up after the party. You are responsible for your visitors.

It is forbidden to let an extra person live in your room or allow someone else to stay in your room while you are absent. Breach of this rule will result in termination of your contract .

Damage
