The building
The building is located on the Tuindorp West Complex (TWC) and consists of several student flats in the Tuindorp quarter near Utrecht city centre. The complex contains four addresses: 'Van Lieflandlaan', 'Gisbert Bromlaan', 'Willem Schuylenburglaan' and 'Frits Coerslaan'. Mr. Van Liefland (1809-1861) was a painter and a writer. Mr. Gisbert Brom (1864-1915) was a priest, historian and director of the Dutch Institute of History in Rome between 1809 and 1914. Mr. Willem Schuylenburg was the director of the central museum in Utrecht in 1930. Mr. Frits Coers (1870-1937) was an anthem propagandist.
The apartment building was built in the '70. In 2001 it was renovated. Mr. Van Randen was the architect of the block. There are three high buildings of 18 floors and several low buildings. There are 1200 rooms in total. Every room has a fast internet connection and a wash basin. The complex has its own café.
It is close to the Utrecht Overvecht train station. By bike, it takes about 10 minutes to get into the city centre. To the Uithof university centre, takes about 20 minutes by bike. There is also a bus connection.
